A fresh bouquet can brighten up a room for one to two weeks with just a few simple steps. Whether you received the flowers as a gift or chose them yourself at Adenia, here are our florist\u2019s tips for enjoying them as long as possible.<\/p>

Cut the stems at an angle<\/strong> As soon as you receive it, ideally under running water, to maximize water absorption and prevent the stem from curling back on itself. A 45-degree angle increases the surface area in contact with the water.<\/p>

Change the water every two days<\/strong> and be sure to remove any leaves that are sitting in the water\u2014they decompose quickly and promote the growth of bacteria, the leading cause of premature wilting.<\/p>

Keep the bouquet away from heat sources<\/strong> (direct sunlight, radiators, electronic devices) and ripe fruit, whose ethylene gas significantly accelerates the aging of the petals.<\/p>

Trim the stems every three or four days<\/strong>, by a few centimeters, to refresh the cut and boost absorption. Giving the vase a quick cleaning each time you change the water also prevents residue from building up.<\/p>
